Sticker Application Guide

To apply plotter-cut stickers, it’s enough to have a microfiber cloth for thoroughly cleaning the surface, an alcohol-based cleaner or extraction gasoline (white spirit) to degrease the surface where the sticker will be applied, scissors if the sticker needs trimming, adhesive tape to mark reference points or temporarily position the sticker (especially for larger sizes), and a squeegee to press the sticker evenly for a perfect finish.

How to Apply Stickers Step by Step

Follow the instructions

Sticker Application Guide

1. Surface Preparation

Make sure the surface where you plan to apply the stickers is clean, dry, and smooth. Remove dust, dirt, or grease using a suitable cleaner such as isopropyl alcohol or degreaser. This will help remove oils and ensure better adhesion of the stickers.

2. Sticker Preparation

Let the sticker rest under a weight for a few hours or overnight. This will allow it to gradually return to a flat shape. After that, check if the sticker is straight. If it is still bent, repeat the process or gently smooth it with your hand or a squeegee. Air bubbles under the transfer layer are normal — before applying, remove them by pushing the air from the center toward the edges of the sticker.

3. Positioning the Sticker

Before applying the sticker, carefully position it on the target surface. Choose a location that enhances the visual appearance or meets functional needs. To keep it straight and precise, use masking tape to mark the exact placement before sticking it down.

4. Setting a Reference Point

Tape placed in the middle serves as a reference point, making it easier to position the sticker. After removing the backing, you can precisely apply the sticker while maintaining alignment and control over its placement. This ensures the sticker is centered and evenly applied.

5. Starting the Application

Carefully peel part of the sticker away from the backing, making sure all elements remain on the transfer layer and that nothing is folded. Then cut off the exposed section of the backing paper.

6. Applying to the Surface

Gently place the previously peeled section of the sticker onto the surface, making sure it lays evenly and does not fold or wrinkle.

7. Pressing the Sticker Evenly

Once the sticker with the transfer layer is properly aligned on the surface, press it down using a squeegee or a credit card, smoothing the surface and pushing out any air bubbles.

8. Applying the Remaining Section

Once the sticker is firmly pressed onto the surface, remove the tape that was placed in the middle as a reference point - the sticker now becomes your guide. Peel off the remaining backing and continue smoothing and pressing toward the left side. For large stickers, it is recommended to work with two people.

9. Final Adjustments

At this stage, press the sticker firmly and remove any imperfections such as air bubbles or uneven areas.

10. Removing the Transfer Film

Once the sticker is firmly adhered to the surface, gently and very slowly remove the transfer film. It’s best to peel it back at a 180-degree angle.
