How to remove stubborn sticker residues using what is in our kitchen?
Nowadays, stickers are something natural and found practically everywhere. When we want to beautify, cover or show something. We can also find them on newly purchased products almost always. Usually the sticker is easy to peel off, but the residue left behind can be really difficult to remove. If you’re tired of wasting time removing adhesive residue and don’t want to spend extra money on adhesive removers, you can remove sticker residue using one of the tricks below.
Each of these covers common household items you probably already have in your kitchen, and all are sure to be more effective than scraping with your fingernail.
First of all – when you want to remove the remains of stickers, use cooking oil.
Apply oil – olive, rapeseed, sunflower or other – to a paper towel. Place a towel over any remaining glue that won’t budge. Wait a few minutes until the oil dissolves the stubborn product. Finally, remove the towel and use your fingers or a plastic scraper to wipe off the sticker residue (it should come off quite easily). Some care should be taken with this method as oils can stain absorbent materials, so test a drop of your chosen oil on an inconspicuous part of the item. Continue only if the oil leaves no traces.
Another method of removing sticker remnants is rubbing with alcohol. (you can even use vodka).
The process is no different than what you would use if you were using cooking oil. Dampen a paper towel with alcohol. Place a towel on the sticky area and wait a few minutes for the liquid to dissolve the glue. Finally, remove any sticker residue by rubbing the remaining material with your fingers or a plastic scraper.
A mild acid such as vinegar works well to remove sticker residue.
Start by soaking a cloth in a white vinegar solution. Wrap it around the item, leaving the vinegar for a few minutes to work its magic. Remove the cloth and you will see that the glue has become much less sticky and much easier to remove.
A good way is also to use mayonnaise – some say it is the best way to remove sticker remnants. Considering that mayonnaise combines two ingredients mentioned elsewhere in this discussion (oil and vinegar), it doesn’t seem so far-fetched that mayonnaise will prove effective. However, its use should be limited to non-porous surfaces such as glass or plastic as it can also leave stains on surfaces. As you can see, getting rid of unwanted glue does not have to be expensive and difficult. Just a little bit of cleverness and your surface will be beautiful and clean again.
